Gulnara, Crimea-born artist who now lives in New York City, has been changing the ways that people think of horticulture for years. Growing up in Crimea, surrounded by the sea, mountains, and fresh air was a massive source of inspiration for Gulnara, coupled with her family’s creative roots. Gulnara traversed many different creative avenues before finding her passion in large-scale flower arrangements.
When she first saw large flower arrangements though, her heart was ignited, and she began creating massive flowers out of corrugated paper. After deciding that paper didn’t quite suit her, her passion for this art form and the idea of selling these arrangements really began.

Five years later, Gulnara Flowers has evolved into a brand that creatively incorporates arrangements of life-like flowers into lighting fixtures and other creative projects like that. Over the half decade, Gulnara has been inspired by both the outcome and the process, utilizing piping and various power tools in her floral lighting arrangements. “I won’t hide it, [there were] burns and tears, some things didn’t work out the first time.” The best summary of the work comes from Gulnara herself:
“My mom is a fashion designer and dad is an artist. That is why I was looking for myself in different types of creativity. Words cannot describe how cool it is to create a composition, come up with a composition of flowers, and create lamps in the form of flowers, implement your plans and get great pleasure from the work done.”
