5 Fashion Trends to Beat The Cold

Sun going down later, holiday seasons have passed us, but we’re not out of the cold yet. However, these five fashion trends will make crawling out of bed and taking on the day easier (and warmer) than ever.

Leather: From the 50s to the 90s to Now.

From the classic leather bomber jacket to leather shorts and full-length leather trench coats, everyone from Gucci to Dion Lee are getting in on the leather treatment.

Blazers, biker jackets, and pants are the most accessible ways to bring leather into your own wardrobe while staying comfortable this winter.

Denim on Denim.

Leather isn’t the only material coming back into style this year: Denim is having a moment too, with Canadian tuxedos hitting the runway, flared jeans on every block, and printed denim emerging amongst the younger generation.

Denim maxi skirts, bootcut and barrel-leg jeans, and denim jackets with modern twists evoke the material’s classic look with plenty of room to personalize and style around.

Shifts in Corset Culture.

A different era of revival, corsets are back. With corsets coming back into fashion, the organ-altering and waist-pinching have been abandoned, leaving only the aesthetic of lined up buttons, seams, and v-shaped hems, now built for different body types, rather than to create body types. Now though, the corset is more about the form than its past function.

Skirts and jackets (like the denim ones mentioned in the above section) are great options to assist in styling corsets. Additionally, a huge corset-wear trend is the under-bust corset, which can be worn in a variety of situations with relative ease.

Faux Fur and Fuzz.

You don’t have to sacrifice warmth for fashion, with faux fur coats becoming a staple this winter. Additionally, fleece-lined and fuzzy jackets are showing up everywhere. All of these looks (as well as the recent resurgence of robes as fashion) are examples of the popular 2022 trend of “dressing up by dressing down.”

Satin robes, kimonos, and faux fur aren’t as affordable as some of these other winter options, but the quality, comfort, and look of these pieces are undefeated.

Cargo Pants’ Comeback.

Cargo pants aren’t only for going on old-timey safaris and people trying to maximize pocket space. For both men and women, cargo pants are being made to fit and look better, while adding the versatility of losing your phone in pockets more chic and stylish than ever.
